REISPORT MA532 grips: durability designed for intensive training

REISPORT MA532 grips are designed for experienced and high-level gymnasts on rings. Made from leather with 2 finger holes, a large dowel and a Velcro fastening, they protect the palm against repeated friction while helping provide an effective hold on the apparatus. Made in Switzerland, REISPORT grips have been used in gymnastics clubs for many years.

The ELITE range uses more durable Sandwich-Compound leather, designed for intensive training and gymnasts who place heavy demands on their grips. This firmer leather requires a longer breaking-in period.

Designed for the rings

On rings, sustained gripping and strength work place considerable demands on the hands. The large dowel provides a pronounced point of support on the apparatus and helps maintain a more secure grip during swings, strength elements and dismounts.

The leather gradually softens and moulds to the shape of the hand with use. A short breaking-in period is therefore normal.

Palm protection and wrist support

Repeated work on the apparatus can cause soreness, blisters or skin tears. Grips reduce direct contact and friction on the palm. They should be worn with suitable protective wristbands to make them more comfortable to wear and reduce pressure points around the wrist.

The Velcro fastening makes the grips quick to put on and easy to adjust before each turn. It allows small changes to the tightness during training.

Choosing the right size

Measure the hand from the base of the palm at the wrist to the tip of the middle finger, then refer to the REISPORT size chart. The correct size is essential to position the dowel properly and maintain a good grip. If in doubt, particularly for a first pair, ask your coach or Gymway customer service for advice.

The finger holes can be adjusted when first using the grips. If they are too tight, they can be enlarged very slightly with sandpaper, working gradually without removing too much material. The leather will continue to mould naturally during breaking-in.

Use and care advice

Introduce the grips gradually during the first training sessions to allow the leather to soften. After each use, leave them to dry naturally in a dry, ventilated place. Do not put them away damp in a bag or place them near a radiator or another heat source.

Never use water on your leather grips, either for cleaning or during use. Water changes the properties of the leather and can distort it, impair its grip and shorten its lifespan. Never wash the grips with water.
